Early summer 2026 was somewhat crowded with events so our first concert takes place on 5th September – and it’s a cracker!

Saturday 5th September, 7pm, Pot of Gold Shanty Crew

The Crew were with us in 2023 and went down a storm – though that’s possibly not the best metaphor for singers of sea shanties (!) – and we’ve been looking for the opportunity for a return visit.

They met up in early 2017 to sing sea shanties and songs of the sea and, accompanied by guitars, banjo and percussion, have been singing regularly in theatres, clubs, pubs, churches, at festivals, and charity events since then.

There are sure to be a few old favourites, a bit of audience participation and possibly some new songs and arrangements too.

Saturday 17th October, 7pm. Serendipity – a superb ladies choir

Many of the ladies in this brilliant upper-voice choir are conservatoire trained, some are soloists in their own right, some run their own choirs. All are highly experienced and expert singers.

Under their director, Andrew Mildinhall, they will present a wide-ranging repertoire – anything from 16th century motets to Eric Clapton, with Schubert, Elgar, Elton John, Abba, Lennon & McCartney and songs from musical theatre in between.

Andrew was, for 12 years, Director of Music at the collegiate church of St Mary, Nantwich. He has also worked with the Northern Sinfonia, the Manchester Camerata and the 18th Century Concert Orchestra and many well-known singers.

We can expect a highly polished and enjoyable evening – and refreshments too.

Friday 20th November 7pm – Lardal Kantori – the Norwegian choir

A musical & visually colourful treat – this superb choir performs in national dress in the fantastic acoustics and friendly atmosphere of our lovely rural parish church.

We’re delighted again to welcome our Norwegian friends to Bergh Apton.  They will bring a selection of songs and carols in Norwegian and English to herald the Advent season. They were first with us in 2012 and we’re really looking forward to this, their tenth visit.

Under the expert musical leadership of Kjell Håkerstad, Lardal Kantori performs regularly around southern Norway.  Their style is relaxed and friendly but very polished.
